We’re Here to Help
Whether you're just starting or have tried before, we’ll help you find support that works for you.
Step 1: Support from Your GP Practice
Our Healthcare Assistant (HCA) can support you with:
- Weight checks and tracking
- Basic dietary and exercise advice
- Motivation and realistic goal setting
This is a great first step before formal referral options.
Step 2: Tier 2 – Community Weight Management Programme
A free NHS programme with:
- Support from trained advisers
- Healthy eating and physical activity plans
- Behaviour change coaching
Eligibility:
- BMI ≥ 30 (or ≥ 27.5 if from a BAME background), or
- A weight-related health condition (e.g. type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure)
You must complete this programme before being referred to Tier 3 specialist services.
What About Weight Loss Injections (e.g. Wegovy)?
These medications are not available on request and cannot be prescribed directly by your GP.
They are only considered via a Tier 3 specialist weight management service.
To be eligible for referral:
- BMI of 35+, or 30+ with serious health conditions
- You must have completed Tier 2 support
- Your GP must assess and refer you if appropriate
This ensures the treatment is safe, effective, and appropriate for you.
